• Bogil, Jinwoo, and Taesu join the lab. They had been with the ICSL as undergrad research assistants for almost a year, prior to entering the graduate school. They all will be pursuing Ph.D. degrees. Welcome aboard!
  • The paper titled “FineReg: fine-grained register file management for augmenting GPU throughput” is accepted to MICRO 2018. Kudos to authors!
  • William won 2017 Teaching Excellence Award from the College of Engineering of Yonsei University.
  • Our lab wins a project from Samsung Research Funding & Incubation Center for Future Technology. The project titled “FleXynapse: a programmable neural network processing unit” will develop a highly flexible, power-efficient hardware accelerator for neural network computing.
  • ICSL welcomes a new addition to the lab, Sungjae. He is selected as a scholarship recipient for his Master’s program thanks to his outstanding academic achievements.
  • William received Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence from Yonsei University.
  • William had an invited talk titled “Manifold-KitFox: a holistic framework for integrated microarchitecture-physics simulations” at Korea ACM SIGARCH Chapter Workshop on Feb. 12, 2018.
  • Kiyeop joins ICSL to pursue Ph.D. degree. He was a former research engineer of LG Electronics. We’re excited to have an experienced engineer joining the lab. Welcome aboard!
  • Hyeonjin joins the lab and will pursue M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. He receives scholarship from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering for his outstanding academic achievements.


Our lab is looking for highly self-motivated and brilliant students broadly interested in computer systems and architecture, including but not limited to:

  • Neural network accelerators
  • Processing near memory
  • GPU microarchitecture
  • Modeling and simulation methodologies
  • Quantum computing


The following courses are relevant to our research interests. Students looking for lab opportunities are recommended to take these courses (but not required to take all of them). Strong programming skills are expected, e.g., C++, Python, Perl, Verilog.
